I have been a massage therapist since 04 and have only been doing it very very part time. My son is now going into school next year so I can focus on growing it. Are there any of you who have information that might help me do this. I live in PA, and I do have an area in my home that I can use. I just need to know about marketing myself. Thank you.Massage therapists who can help me with my home business.?
Read: ';Business Mastery'; by C. Shonen Moe
It is a good book with practical information for massage therapists.
Otherwise, try contacting local Dr's., gyms and other places that have the clients you're looking to work with.
If you are working out of your home, it will be harder to find clients because you will need to work off of referrals. You probably don't want complete strangers coming to your home. An internet website wouldn't be a good idea. You never know who will be responding to your ads.
Network with other therapists. When I was working at home, my best regular clients were all referred by other therapists from out of state. Their clients moved to my area and I was able to work with them having a better sense of exactly who they were.
Definately let your close neighbors know about it. They will be seeing various people coming in and out of your home. You don't want them to think anything bad. They may also become clients.
Invest in a massage chair. You can take that anywhere and it's a great way to introduce people to your touch. I have worked with different organizations like schools, churches and other places to provide (sometimes free) massages at an event where I hand out business cards.
Set up your chair at the local grocery store. Work out a deal with the owner. You could rent space and this would give you high visibility and a great way to meet potential customers.
Take care and good luck.
I have decided to stop working at home and take a job with someone who has a dedicated space, all the equipment and does all of the advertising. It is far less pay per hour than I can make by myself but it is far more regular work without any of the liabilities. They are even going to provide health insurance.Massage therapists who can help me with my home business.?
How about a website? When it's all finished, you wouldn't need to waste $400 on a tiny little yellow page ad, and people would find you without you doing much expensive marketing work.
We built one in about 3-4 weeks and have been receiving between 8 - 13 new clients every month now. The site is 5 months old. Best decision we ever made!
However there are the standard radio announcements, newspaper ads, yellow pages, thrifty newspapers, putting up ads/flyers at weight-training centers, etc...
Hope this helps a little! Good luck!
