Tell em that, in our business, we respectfully request the client take a shower or bath - what ever his/her preference is before the appointment.Massage therapists?! A client has offensive body oder. How do you handle it tactfully?
I'm in chiropractic school and i heard an interesting way to deal with a smelly patient. Tell them that a great way to help there treatment is if before they come in, sit in a tub full of warm water and add a little soap to the water to help soothe the skin. Not sure if this can apply to massage therapy but I thought it was creative.Massage therapists?! A client has offensive body oder. How do you handle it tactfully?
It's very hard to deal with, and impossible to get people to change their bathing habits. People stink for a reason, usually because they don't like washing themselves.
Can you tell if it's body odor from not washing? Sometimes if you have a client whose diet is very heavy in certain spices, they can also have an odor. In which case, bathing right before a session may not help very much... can you possibly use some scented oil, like lavender to help ease the offensive odor?
It's not surprised.u may talk it with other massage therapists.I know a website called PubSpa.com, where u can meet spa enthusiasts around the world
