Are chiropractors considered licensed massage therapists?

Doesnt seem so but just checking. Are chiropractors considered licensed massage therapists?
No, these are separate entitities. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if there are a few DCs out there that have a prior MT certification, but not likely. The same can be said about PTs...PTs are not certified MTs. While massage is certainly a technique that PTs learn, it is not the focus of your treatment. It is only a small part in your recovery. That is why insurance companies will not pay for solely a ';massage therapy'; session by a PT, rather manual therapy must be done in conjunction with a comprehensive rehabilitation program. I went on a little tangent, but you get the idea...Are chiropractors considered licensed massage therapists?
No, Chiropractors are not considered licensed massage therapist, but under our chiropractic license, we are permitted to use a wide variety of therapies to assist in healing the body. Those include but not limited to massage, electrical therapies, physical medicine / rehabilitation, nutritional care, and chiropractic adjusting of the spine and articulations to help improve function. Many Chiropractors either held massage license prior to becoming doctors or they went on to get licensed as a means of adding another tool under their belt and promote it in their marketing and advertising. Massage is gaining a lot of attention these days as more people are wanting it for their pain, for example like now a days 80 percent of the Chiropractors hold Acupuncture licenses.
They're totally different professions. Chiropractors are doctors. Massage therapists are not doctors. Often chiropractors will employ massage therapists in their practice as massage therapy is complementary to chiropractic. I used to get an hour massage and then walk across the hall and get adjusted by the chiropractor and he would always comment it was easier to adjust someone after a massage.
No, they are licensed doctors of chiropractic.
Chiropractors are doctors with extensive training.
Not in North Carolina. Liscensing for massage therapists is done through the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapists.

Your Chiropractor might have a Massage Therapist working for him/her.
Chiropractors are not MTs, but have training in it and can be very good at it if they choose to use it in their practice. Most don't have time for hour long massages however. Chiropractic treatments may be paid through your insurance however, sometimes when massage cannot. So if they give you a combined therapy than you get the best of both.
no
