First take advantage of the swaps you do in class. But people may not realize that it is physical work giving a massage. Your body will get used to it. Maybe using more forearm strokes will save your wrists and hands.Massage Therapists: When you started practice, were your joints sore?
sometimes after a long day massaging my wrists can get a bit sore, its usually a sign to watch my technique. I'm not sure why your ankles are sore! why dont you try stretching exercises for your gastrocs, hamstrings and quads, and forearm flexors/exstensors. Perhaps do some walking as you need to keep your energy flowing in such a physical job. Just walking and some light weights if you have them helped me through my study and helps when you are working in massage. It's a job where you need a level of fitness, you wont necessarily become fit massaging.
Whenever you exercise muscles and joints more than you have in the past they become sore. My dad tells me a story about how his first day working at a bank they made him count money by hand for eight hours and the next day his whole arm, shoulder, and back were sore. As you get stronger and used to the effort of giving a massage you won't be quite as sore any more. Advil might help with the pain. If you don't like pills then try a heating pad, or get a massage yourself.
