What exactly do massage therapists do?

I am looking into that type of job, and I am wondering- do they do specific massages on people who have medical problems like a pulled muscle or recovering foot [massage THERAPIST] or do they just give massages, being called a therapist because they know the points in a body that need to be massaged?

Thanks! What exactly do massage therapists do?
Massage Therapists do massage in all types of environments for all types of people and all types of goals.

Example - when I started my career as a Massage Therapist I worked at a Spa for a month where everyone just wanted relaxation massage. I later went to a fitness center where everyone had some kind of physical pain, usually from overdoing a workout, that they wanted therapy for. I now have my own massage office and I get mostly people with some kind of pain that I help them heal from.

There is relaxation massage, sports massage, medical massage, and energy work. Different therapists apply different techniques in all of these - including Swedish, Connective Tissue, Neuromuscular, Craniosacral, Reiki, Polarity, Reflexology, and more.

The 3 hardest things about the job are that we often just work with our clients all day compared to most careers where you see your co-workers in the next cubicle, we don't get paid if we don't have massage clients, and those who really want to do well become self-employed which means we have all the responsibilities (and powers) of owning our own business.

Talk to the schools the other Massage Therapists. Most of us like to talk to people about what we do.What exactly do massage therapists do?
i wouldn't do it. I dont wouldn't want to massage a fat old man everywhere.
