Massage therapists .?

Do you gentle exercise your hands and back before/after treatment?Massage therapists .?
Hi Karen

I usually do shoulder circles and waist twists prior to giving treatment ( but not whilst the client is present)

If I have a real busy day scheduled I do a round of Tai Chi at the beginning of day and finish of the day with another round, It works for me.Massage therapists .?
hello huni

i am a professional spa therapist

we dont do any presific warm up movements as the massage stimulates ours hands while we stimulate the clients body

but we do like movements of the wrist in circles

moving hands back and forward

squeezing hands in a punch mode in and out a few times

if we r left handed or right handed then yes we do focus on geting both hands to work together iv been a therapist for 3 years and my left hand still does not work the same lol!!

hope this has helped xzxx
I place my palms together, then raise my arms and wrists so that my fingers are all pressing against each other. This stretches the fingers. Then I will raise my palms up more so that just my fingertips are touching. Take one thumb and press between your index and middle finger...as you press, slide your thumb down to the base of your palm while gently pressing your fingers back. It does burn a little because your stretching and stripping the muscles at the same time. Do this between all 4 fingers on each hand. Then, to increase the sensitivity of your hands, use your thumb to gently brush clockwise circles in the center of each palm. It kind of tickles when you do it, and feels a little tingly when your done, but it brings you to be more aware of your palms.
No I just usually get a massage every week to deal with the physical stress or go to the Womens spa. It is essential that you take care of your hands and everything else. Self care is the cornerstone to a good career.
No, However after a day of manually handling up to 14 patients this would probably be a good idea.:o)
Hi Karen. Im not sure if they warm up before they massage a client, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea in order to get the kinks out of their joints and all.
Yeah, take a large rubber band, put it around your fingers and thumb and stretch it out....helps relieve tension in the fingers. Do it often.
