What schools would you recommend for an individual who resides in the Nothern VA/Washington DC/ Maryland area? What is the job outlook. Any interesting stories? I'd also like to hear from a massage therapist who has opened their own business. Details, people. Thanks.Massage therapists: what information would you provide to someone who is thinking about becoming a masseuse.?
I just graduated and opened my own massage business. I feel that I was thoroughly equipped for that. I STRONGLY recommend a school that is a part of the High Tech Institutes. They have one of the most in depth courses in Massage Therapy. A lot of schools only teach basic Swedish and a few other things that you might need in a spa environment. That leaves a lot of therapists unequipped for the wide field of massage therapy. High Tech provides an 18 month course study that really prepares you to be a professional in the field, and prepares you to take your national exam. Yes, there is a National exam. Just because you graduate from school doesn't mean you are free and clear to work, you are required to pass a national level test before you can become fully licensed. The schooling seems a little pricey at first, but if you really study and put your mind to being a leading professional in the field, it can be a very lucrative business. I don't know if this is what you were wanting. I feel like my information was a little scattered. Feel free to ask me clarifying questions.
