I'm looking to start a massage practice. Do I need to take special storage precautions for most oils, lotions, gels and cremes?Massage therapists please answer about lubricants?
Yes. Keep your lubricants in a cool, dark place or dark bottle that would cut any UV rays.Avoid extreme changes in temperature. You should only use organic lubricants as any thing you rub into the skin does absorb into the blood system. Avoid synthetic chemicals and artificial fragrances.Massage therapists please answer about lubricants?
As a Naturopath that practices massage as well, I would agree with the previous answer and add that you need to be careful when creating oils with essential oils etc. many people react adversly in as much as they get a bit rashy. Avoid this if possible. I use orgainc olive oil only. Olive oil is very nutritious to the skin and is antiinflammatory. It spreads well and is nice to work in. Try warming up your oil first to make it that much nicer for your clients. Keep it in airtight containers and wawy from light.
Good luck and I hope you get loads of clients!

You should have been educated in this in school. But what you need to store safely is the essensial oils. They need to be kept in a cool darker place and having them in darker bottles will help too.
