I wanted to know average how much does LMT make? and what type of training would you need to become a LMT and what would one need to do in order to offer outgoing calls and run their own business in this field. You will need to complete a 500 hour training program, take the national certification test and then apply for your license through the state for massage therapy. If you plan on doing your own business, you'd also need to have insurance and a private business license. As a new therapist, I'd advise working at a spa or medical office first since it's hard to establish yourself in the beginning. You need to build up a client base first.


It's really hard to guess how much you'll make. It depends on a lot of things. The economy, where you work, the times you work, the season. Some weeks I make over $1000 a week in services and tips (but I do nails as well). Some weeks I make $300. (Medical settings are better!!)
