Taking place November 28, 2008 at the Liwasang Aurora of the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City, the Philippines under the initiative of KATINKO made an attempt to break the current world record by gathering hundreds of certified massage therapists from around the country that performed the Dagdagay foot massage. The event also included massage therapy of the back and head and earned them a new world record.
GPHK Inc. CEO and President John Philip R. Yeung and KATINKO Marketing Manager Bryan Paul J. Libunao has been promoting and supporting traditional Filipino massage as part of the curriculum in the KATINKO Wellness Institute Foundation Inc. and has chosen to perform the Dagdagay, a traditional massage from the Cordilleras, in their massage technique of the Guinness World Record-breaking and setting event.
After the much awaited event, with one world record to break and another world record to set, KATINKO failed in its first bid to beat the Taiwan record as “The Most People Receiving Foot Massage / Reflexology Simultaneously” with 1008 pairs engaging in a ten-minute foot massage but was successful in setting a new world as “The Most People Receiving Massage Therapy / Reflexology (Foot, Back and Head) Simultaneously” with 876 pairs of massage therapists and clients participating in a forty-five minute session.
Graced by MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, former Bulacan Governor Josie dela Cruz and the Quezon City Councilors, the event also became an opportunity for Greenstone Pharmaceutical to launch its roster of new products that includes the KATINKO Ointment Easy Stick, KATINKO Wellness Isopropyl and Ethyl Alcohol and the KATINKO Wellness Therapeutics Massage Oil that comes in Euca-peppermint, Relaxing Lavender and Boosting Ylang-ylang. Also present in the event are KATINKO endorser Ronnie Rickets and Bobby Andrews who represented Se. Bong Revilla.
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte has previously extended the city’s appreciation to KATINKO for choosing the Quezon Memorial Circle as the venue of the world record-breaking event. The occasion came in timely as the local government of Quezon City has recently assumed the administrative role in governing the Quezon Memorial Circle and promote it to the world as one of the world class parks of the city.
