Where are all the massage therapists at?? i have a few questions?

my friends mom is a massage therapist and she heard that i wanted to be one but shes been telling me bad things about the job. about how you might get carpel tunnel and how the average job span is from 7-10 years because your hands start to hurt alot. is all that true?? is it really that bad of a job?

also, is the schooling really hard to? i just need any information about becoming one.Where are all the massage therapists at?? i have a few questions?
My cousin has been a massage therapist for nearly 15 years and has no intentions or need to stop any time soon! He's schooled in Swedish, sports, neuromuscular, shiatsu, and myofacial massage therapy, and he can get $60-75 an hour by going to people's homes with a portable table as well as working for a spa and country club.

There are also opportunities to work at chiropractors' offices and doing $1-a-minute massages at fairs, expos, home %26amp; garden shows, etc. with a portable massage chair, and I knew a woman who made a LOT of money going from office to office doing $1 a minute neck and shoulder massages - she simply carried a little ';face rest'; with a steralizing solution to use between clients (sprayed it down before and after use in front of clients for their peace of mind). Most of the secretaries would pull $5 or $10 out of their wallet or purse the moment she walked in the door. Doesn't sound like a lot to the people getting the workout, but even averaging $30 an hour isn't bad in your pocket!

My advice: call and check out the schools in your area. Go to one and get a massage yourself (they usually charge a minimal fee and the students get to ';practice';) and chat with the person who's working on you. I think it's a very good career and I know there are grant programs available as well. Good luck!
