I live in a state where massage has just started to be regulated and we now have to me certified in it. Do estheticians have to be certified in massage to practice forms such as prenatal, deep tissue, hot stone, and other forms or can they practice it under there own license that they obtain to be an esthetician? I understand that they do massage in the services they provide such as facials and body treatments, but legally can they do a massage as its own service.Are estheticians massage therapists?
Esthetician can ONLY perform slight massage that is associated with facials, back facials ect.... To do full on massage which I assume you are speaking of --- you MUST be a licensed massage therapist as well...
same goes for cosmetologists...
