Also, what are some great ways to promote your massage therapy business? Is it difficult to find work as a licensed massage therapist if you dont work in a spa/salon/hotel?
One of my friends freelances and does quite well for herself. Quite well is a relative term, of course. She does better than most massage therapists when she actively works.
Another friend's mom, a retired nurse, is a massage therapy practitioner and works between her client's homes and a Chiropractor's office. In some cases the Chiropractor is able to get paid by the insurance companies and in some cases they are not and the client pays out of pocket and she gets a cut of the monies. The chiropractor gave her a room but many will rent a room to a massage therapist and a percentage of the gross income. Is it difficult to find work as a licensed massage therapist if you dont work in a spa/salon/hotel?
Work is out there. Small beauty shops, physical therapy are two areas that come to mind that people are finding a market that is available. Sometimes a small business owner is wanting to offer more services. So next time you go shopping, look around for a business that is needing a little help. Tanning salon, nail shoppe are two more. And if you can find a place that has room, they can build some walls around a private area and the cost for both sides are nominal. Good luck.
